Do you like sports turf as much as we do? If answer is yes, then we have some great news for you! Sports Turf Canada is the non-profit professional association dedicated to the promotion of better, safer sports turf through innovation, education and professional programs.  We are the only Canadian association solely dedicated to sports turf education and research.

Field Days:

It’s been our annual tradition for over 30 years!  They are an opportunity to come out to the field, listen to experts who know best maintenance practices, talk to others who do what you do, meet the suppliers and see what products and services they provide and watch as they demonstrate them for you.  They are designed for the benefit of all sports field personnel from Parks Managers to Front Line Staff.

  •  Connecting face to face with industry suppliers
  • Learn from the City of Woodstock on their turf transformations and what they’ve learned!
  • Ability to meet other sports turf professionals and our experts 
  • 6 hours of live sports field training
  • BBQ lunch
  • Ability to shape our industry moving forward
  • On field demonstrations such as
    • ball diamond “How To” and equipment demonstration
    • synthetic turf maintenance
    • sports field line painting
    • various maintenance techniques (overseeding, aerating, etc.)
    • equipment usage
    • battery operated equipment 


Ontario Turfgrass Symposium

Held February each year which includes a variety of presentations that cover turf maintenance.  Our members are often speaking and sharing their success stories and learning opportunities



MEMBERSHIP:

Student - $35.00 (CAD)

Memberships are for one calendar year:  Jan 1 – Dec 31st.  Eligibility:  A full-time student. You have the same benefits and privileges as a Sports Turf Professional and you will receive an electronic copy of Sports Turf Manager magazine, instead of a hard copy.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Robert Sheard scholarship – we’ve been offering this scholarship for over 20 years.  It’s intended to recognize someone who truly has a desire to continue their education for the purpose of sports field improvement.

Michael J Bladon scholarship – the Bladon family recently added this opportunity for someone who wishes to continue their education in sports turf.  You must be actively employed in an environment where sports turf maintenance is a part of their scope of work.

Scholarships for 2022 have closed however watch for the Spring of 2023 to apply again.
