Sports Turf Synthetic Safety & Maintenance Course


The course explores the myth that artificial turf is low maintenance. It will be of interest to those who manage or maintain synthetic sports turf and for those who want additional knowledge of its maintenance requirements. The course includes an on-field demonstration of concepts learned in classroom, where possible.

COURSE LENGTH:

1 Day

TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • What is synthetic turf and its history and evolution 
  • How to identify your type of field and its design components
  •  Installation, drainage techniques and infill understanding 
  • Maintenance best practices, techniques and schedules
  • Equipment use, set up and maintenance overview
  • Inspections and troubleshooting common problems

    Sports Turf Canada’s goal is to advance the knowledge and education of sports turf professionals in Canada in the areas of synthetic sports turf field safety and maintenance. This Sports Turf Canada course will be of interest to those who manage or maintain synthetic sports turf and to those who wish to develop additional knowledge and skills in this subject matter.

    SCHEDULE

    8:00—10:00          Introduction to Synthetic Turf

    10:00—10:15        Break

    10:15—12:00        Synthetic Maintenance

    12:00—1:00          Lunch

    1:00—2:00            On Field Demonstration 

    2:00—3:00            Brief Test 

    This course includes a short test on the last day to ensure you received the information which was taught.  It is multiple choice.  Registrants are required to attend 100% of the class in order to write the test.  Those who achieve a passing grade of 60% will be provided a Certificate of Successful Completion for the course. Support is provided for those with learning challenges.

    CANCELLATION:

    A complete refund, less a $50 administrative fee, will be issued provided written notification of cancellation is received by Sports Turf Canada no later than 7 calendar days prior to the course start date.  Those who register but do not attend will not receive a refund.  If you are unable to attend, you may send a colleague in your place, provided written notification is provided in advance of the course.  A refund will occur if the course needs to be cancelled for reasons beyond our control, by Sports Turf Canada .  Any additional costs incurred by registrants will not be covered by Sports Turf Canada.  We reserve the right to cancel any course.

    COURSE INFORMATION:

      The course is one day in length with 7.0 instructional hours including a test on the final day.

      STC & RFANS members can bring a colleague from their place of employment and we will extend the membership rate to them also.

      There will be several breaks along with a one hour lunch break and lunch will be provided.  Registrants are responsible for their own accommodations, as required.  Registration fees include course content and workbook.

      Notice of cancellation received by Sports Turf Canada via email no later than 10 calendar days before the event date will receive a complete refund, less a $50 processing fee.  Those who register but do not attend will not receive a refund.  If you are unable to attend, you may send a replacement in your place, provided written notification with replacements name and email is sent before the event begins.  Registrants will receive a full refund should the event be cancelled.  We reserve the right to cancel an event due to conditions beyond our control.  Registrants are required to reach out to Sports Turf Canada by phone or email to resolve payment or refund concerns.
